Resumo:
Democracy is a system of government in which power must be shared by the people and for the people. Thus certain ethical principles are crucial. One of them is transparency in the exercise of power. When power is exercised in an open manner, corruption is reduced and citizens can follow the exercise of power by their representatives. Since the exercise of power often corrupts and corruption ends up being established and occurring secretly, Transparency International was founded. This organization measures every year the index of corruption in most countries of the world. The publication of these indices led to the creation of national branch organizations, such as Transparency Brazil. The latter still has to be strengthened through branch offices in order to promote the growth of citizenship as well as the decrease of corruption in public management and to enable a more ethical and transparent exercise of power in our country.
